Another Cryptid

Image
I have made yet another scientific discovery, here on Planet Weymouth.  Remember when I sent out the newsletter about the lesser known Atlantic Sasquatch?  Commonly referred to as the Maritime Squish, I have made an astonishing find.  A baby squish!  This find is proof of the theory that a baby squish is born green in color.  This little creature was located with the help of my attack cat, Bella.  Normally just toying with birds nests, she appeared mesmerized one night by something beneath my dead cherry tree.  Naturally, I went out with my camera and managed to capture this shot of the little creature.   I didn't stick around too long, as even though smaller than its Western counterparts, the Maritime Squish is nothing to fool around with.  I will be notifying the Scientific community of my find, and sending them this photograph.

Kitty Land

Oh, they're still cute...but.... One of them eats solid food and uses the litter box.  The other two...won't touch food, and not pointing fingers, but someone's been shitting in my living room.  In out of the way places. I noticed for the last couple of days that there was a kitty urine smell in the living room.  So today, I went searching. My search was "rewarded," you could say. I found tiny excrement lurking about. So I swept and then scrubbed everything down, all appears well now. However, I'm concerned about the resistant kitties.  The ones who don't eat regular food, and apparently, don't use the litter box. You see, I can't tell the babies apart, unless I lift them up and check under their tails, or on their bellies.   One has a white spot on its belly, between its back legs-a female.  We were wanting to keep her.  She has an endearing personality. But alas, their charming little personalities don't make ...

As the world turns

For my excitement today, I'm watching a program tonight (if I can find it on You Tube) about Charles Manson's funeral.  Must get some popcorn, and wear a black outfit.  Kidding.  I don't like popcorn and I'm going to be comfortable, very comfortable. Tomorrow is church.  I have this huge green multicolored dress, which I think I will wear.  I'll cinch it with a belt.   The 18th, Thursday, is a movie being shown at the Weymouth Library, "Maudie," about the life of Maude Lewis.  A highly fictionalized account, I understand.  I've made a reservation. I didn't do it this week, but perhaps next week I'll get around to seeing the hairdresser.  I'm mostly concerned about my eyebrows, and I don't care if big ones are popular right now.  These things are  getting clipped. Yesterday, other than to burn trash outside and drive to Digby to Wal Mart and Country Style, I didn't go out. I tend to think I'm becoming more li...

A Local Cryptid

Image
I made a discovery recently ...a cryptid discovery. Went down to the beach (where I used to play as a child), and discovered this....a mermaid. Oh sure, it's just a skeleton, but you know, it once must have been clothed with flesh, it must have once had spirit. And now it lays on the beach, near where Sak's Wharf used to be, discovered by me. I'll be shipping its bones to science. (Fake news people.....-the skeleton actually came from Spirit Halloween)

Life in a medieval village in modern times

It may be a medieval village, but the film was modern.  I was watching this film...I enjoy videos about other lifestyles.  I keep waiting for someone to do Weymouth.  That will probably end up being me. So the opening scene is three men, climbing up some very snow filled hills.  They have a pair of what...oxen, yaks? in tow.  Must be yaks, I don't think oxen, as tough as they are, could handle that much snow and cold. Of course I could be wrong.  Although the beasts were hairy, they didn't have the long length of true yak hair. So up these guys trudged.  They got to the top, and carefully, using ropes, removed snow from what I thought might be a thatch roofed house.  Medieval, remember? After a bit, they sawed this thing, and tore off a limb, and threw it down a snowbank into a river.  Then they threw another one down.  I'm thinking...they must be going to burn these trees.  Unusual trees, very thick.  Obviously de...

Into the Ditch

Image
Morning everyone So, yesterday I mentioned that I had two appointments for my car, both in Yarmouth.  One for a "new" set of tires, and one for an oil change. Things have changed folks. Today I said to Joe, might as well take my car and we'll go feed the pigs (he wanted to come to Yarmouth with me, and due to the distance and the weather, I was glad of that), and then we'll head to Yarmouth. The temperature is fairly mild, it's above zero, but the rain was cold and bitter. So, on the Weymouth Falls Road, Joe driving, we spun out.  See attached pictures, the car was practically standing on its trunk as we hit the ditch.  We weren't hurt, but the car I guess, hit a patch of ice or something and it just spun around, then back again, then into the ditch.  Very close to Ramona's, so we went over there.  Her brother (next door) came home but refused to tow the car.   Joe walked down to Colbert's to get a tow. I called both the tire people...

Bella

Image
Allow me to formerly introduce Bella, our nearly perfect cat.  She's beautiful, she's sweet and playful.  Playful, but not destructive.  Friendly, but not needy.  She has beautiful black fur which sheds very little.  She prefers to go outside to do her business, on all but the coldest days.  She doesn't scratch or bite, even playfully, although she did once jump from a position that caused her to land on my face, at which point, she became airborne.  Ha ha, but that was an accident and no one was injured. She's been with us since October 30th, and she went to her first vet's examination (so far the only one) on November 2. She is the perfect addition to our family. This photo was taken yesterday.
