Bible Story

So today, our Pastor read the story (from the bible) of King David, and his lust for Bathsheba.  She was a beautiful woman, bathing (and thus nude, I'd presume) when David first spied her.   Whether he was a voyeur or not isn't completely clear, but he was definitely an adulterer.  He brought her to his bed.  As the ruling king, he could do that sort of thing, with ease.   She became pregnant.  Then followed a story in which her husband returned from some war he was fighting (on David's behalf) and David sent him to go and sleep with her.  Again, for unknown reasons, the soldier, her husband, declined the offer and slept with some guard.  (male or female, we don't know, but likely male...so was said husband homosexual...we don't know).  Anyway, shortly afterwards David had the hubby shipped away to fight a war he knew he'd lose, and oh yes, hubby was killed.   So David took Bathsheba in with his other wives, yes, othe...

Good Morning

Pouring rain out there, just coming down like mad.  Foggy, overcast, not too windy though.   Bingo last night was well...busy.  I wore a skirt, in honour of Earth Day.  Saw that request somewhere on Facebook, so I went with it.  I even put on earrings, bracelets and a couple of rings.  Too much bling, methinks.  I also wore  a hairpiece, a pony tail like thing, a perfect match for my hair.  Unfortunately, no match for my mood, it kept slipping low on my head, so after a bit I took it off and shoved it in my purse.  So much for glamour. I played last night as I worked (or should I say, as the hoards descended, vulture like, to devour everything in sight) and Sylvia was in the canteen with me, helping out.  Sometimes by giving the crowd their desired item, sometimes by playing my cards while I fed the wolves.  Chips and pop were flying off their shelves.  I will not play again while working the canteen, too crazy. ...

Good Day

Image
Or perhaps I should say Good Afternoon. So, I've been up and over to the Legion already, to pay Gerry for the chip delivery.   Nothing like starting your day off by going over there.  Nothing like ending your night, as I did yesterday, leaving the Legion, after doing the Bingo Canteen.  As I was leaving, two people complained about the new Bingo Caller.  He was making mistakes last night, I don't know why.  Maybe it was the heat...LOL.  Sometimes I think he needs improved glasses or a hearing aid.  Anyway, he seemed nervous and was making errors, and the vultures were on him.  Like they're so perfect and they could do the calling.   I don't know if the Jackpot went, as I left before the game had finished dragging on.     I must call Sylvia to find out if it went.  I'd like to go next week and just play.  And of course, win.  Sigh, for the second time, my partner player didn't show up, she got drunk instead. ...

Raccoons - They're Back

Image
Yes, once again, the Raccoons have surfaced.  I'd noticed a few holes in my lawn earlier, but didn't pay a  lot of heed. But last night, I couldn't help but notice.  The things were on my roof.  Or who knows, possibly on my second floor, LOL.  Having a rip roaring good time. At first it sounded like heavy rain, that's what woke me up.  Then there was no mistaking the scurrying of little feet.  Right above on the roof piece that is directly over the head of my bed.  This went on for a while. This morning I went out to survey the damage.  You can see it here, and although it's not as clear as it looked, I believe I've captured a pic of the paw  print, right beside my car.  What, was the thing trying to steal it? I wonder if any of these critters are Rufus.  That was the name that Kenny and Jamie gave to this baby raccoon they saw one time, perched on the compost bin.  If it's him, he's grown into a lawn destroy...

There's a New Spice in Town

Image
I really like Mrs. Dash, but the stuff is pricey.  I decided to make my own spice.  So I looked on the back of Mrs. Dash, and checked out the ingredients.  There were many that I didn't have.  Improvisation was necessary. My new spice concoction has: black pepper, paprika, oregano, sage, ginger (a bit too much, methinks), garlic salt, dill seeds, lemon-pepper, curry powder, extra spicy herb & garlic, and just a smidge of salt.   The amount I whipped up does not even fill a small spice container.  Clearly, I need to be more bold.   I realize these are not my own, home grown herbs, so I'm kind of cheating. But at this stage, it's an experiment. I think I'll call it San-Spice.  Stand by for the Patent, LOL. SL

Maleficent

Image
Now....Maleficent, the movie (2014 - with Angelina Jolie).  I bought it a few days ago, then had to take it back, as when I opened the case, it contained only papers.   They then gave me the real thing, no hassles.  So I watched it. I have to say that I enjoyed it, but it's not a mature movie...not enough content.  However, I got a message from it, and I hope that children, especially girls, watching it, do too.   Maleficent in this movie was not an evil queen, putting a curse on a newborn baby just because she wasn't invited to the child's Christening.  No, she had been fooled by the baby's father, who inherited the King's throne because of his ability to carry out the old king's wishes.  See, he had met Maleficent years ago, as a boy, and they liked each other.  He returned years later, as part of his nefarious scheme to get the throne.  Which he did.   When his child was born, Maleficent put a curse on the kid for revenge...

The Capture

Image
So...there's been this pheasant parading around my place for a few months.  Fast little fucker, I've never been able to get a shot of him, as he moves like the Roadrunner in that old cartoon. But yesterday, he was hanging around my little yellow shack, and I went out (very quietly) into my entryway, and shot through the glass of the back door.  There must have been some kind of sound, or maybe the ground isn't so cold now that he has to run through the air, anyway, he held onto this pose, almost like he was listening, and I captured him.  Digitally, of course.
